On June 12, the launching ceremony for the opening of the international road transport route of Transfar Group (SCODA) was held in Transfar (SCODA) International Logistics Port (Qingdao Transfar Road Port) of the Transfar Zhilian Co., Ltd. Shandong Region.

On the morning of June 12, two scania trailers carrying protection suits, construction materials, tyres and other cargo began their journey from the Transfar (SCODA) International Logistics Port in the SCODA. It's expected that in 7 days, the cargo will be transported to the 5600 kilometers far Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, thus completing the first ever international road transport task of the SCODA. It represents the operation of the official trial of the SCODA international road transport TIR (International Road Transport System).

Zhang Quanwen, the Business Director of the Transfar (SCODA) International Logistics Port, said that the TIR Convention is a global customs clearance facilitation system for international cross-border freights. For the purpose of facilitating international customs clearance, it improves the efficiency by practicing one-time customs inspection, and exempting further inspections in other countries along the route. “By using TIR, the time spent in door to door transport is 20% of sea transport, and 50% of rail transport, the same as by air. And the cost is in between air and rail transport.” said Zhang Quanwen.

Zhou Yan, the Chief Representative of the East Asia and Southeast Asia Office of the International Union of Road Transport said that, TIR transport could effectively simplify the customs clearance for cargo, save the time and cost for transport, and provide convenience for the cross-border transport and trade among SCO countries.

It is understood that, for the sake of safe and reliable transport, the one-container-all-the-way technology is adopted for this route. It means that there's no need to unload and reload the cargo when exchanging the containers at Irkshtan port. And the bilateral transport could be handled at any time, including placing orders, loading, customs clearance, exit boarder, with the whole process visible 24 hours to achieve truly flexible door to door services.

“ ‘The First Launching of Qingdao-Tashkent Uzbekistan TIR Scheduled Special Line’ holds the significance of a milestone in the building of the international logistics center of SCODA. This line will further enhance the interconnection among the SCO countries, enrich and improve the operation system of multimodal international logistics.” said Meng Qingsheng, the Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA. According to the introduction, SCODA is picking up the pace of integrating the transportation resources by sea, land, air and railway, increasing the numb

rs and frequency of the multimodal transport freight trains. SCODA newly added the SCO Express of the Qilu Eurasian Freight Train, radiating the five Central Asian countries to the west, Russia and Belarus to the north, and connecting over 30 cities from 10 SCO countries. So far, the multimodal transport center of SCODA has opened 20 domestic and international routes, including 11 international routes, and 2 return ones from foreign countries.

“The opening of this scheduled special railway line is our first step in carrying out international logistics business. Our next step is to standardize the opening and further increase the number of such lines. Meanwhile, we will actively combine international logistics resources from home and abroad, to build an intelligent service platform for international multimodal transport, and create new ecology for international logistics.” said Xu Yan, Senior Vice President of Transfar Zhilian Co., Ltd.

It’s said that SCODA will gradually forge connections with the road networks of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the European Union, open up regular scheduled lines between China and Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, and the central Europe. SCODA aims to improve the convenience of trade and transportation along the SCO economic corridor.
