Xiang Zhiqiang and others attended the 17th China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning, Guangxi
On November 27, 2020, Xiang Zhiqiang, Deputy Director of the Party and Working Committee, and the Administrative Committee of the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA), and others attended the 17th China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning, Guangxi.
The 17th China-ASEAN Expo (hereinafter referred to as CAEXPO) was grandly opened in Nanning, Guangxi. The China-based diplomats of the ten ASEAN countries and specially invited partner countries, representatives from various Chinese departments and ministries, as well as the industrial and business sector attended this CAEXPO. Xiang Zhiqiang, Deputy Director of the Party and Working Committee, and the Administrative Committee of SCODA led a delegation to participate in CAEXPO. They also visited Fangchenggang International Medical Pilot Zone.
During the Expo, Xiang Zhiqiang and the delegation attended the investment cooperation round-table of the 17th CAEXPO, China-ASEAN Production Capacity and investment cooperation forum, the seminar on the 10-year anniversary of the completion of China-ASEAN Free Trade Zone, Pakistan trade and investment opportunities promotion, 2020 China-ASEAN Silk Road E-commerce Forum etc. The delegation also met and cordially communicated with the diplomats from 9 countries’ embassies in China, including Moin ul Haque, Pakistani Ambassador to China, Nushirwan, Malaysian Ambassador to China, Djauhari Oratmangun, Indonesian Ambassador to China, Pehin Dato Rahmani Dato Basir, Bruneian Ambassador to China, as well as diplomats from Myanmar, the Philipines, Laos and Vietnam. They also exchanged opinions with officials including Li Yong, Deputy Director of the Investment Promotion Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, Yi Bin, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, Guo Chuanwei, Director of China-ASEAN Center, Chen Danyi, Commercial Officer, He Yan, Head of Department of China International Small and Medium Enterprises Expo Affairs Bureau, Fan Longhai, Vice Secretary of the Secretariat of China-ASEAN Expo. They have also had discussions with the National Bank of Pakistan, China Metallurgical Group Corporation, SF International, Guangzhou Metro Group and Bondex, regarding the logistics, trade and investment of SCODA.
Meanwhile, Xiang Zhiqiang and the delegation also paid a field trip to Fangchenggang International Medical Pilot Zone. Accompanies by Qin Yongfang, Head of the Industries Group of Fangchenggang Preparatory Committee for the International Medical Pilot Zone, the delegation visited Fangchenggang City Exhibition Hall, Fangchengang High and New Technology Exhibition Hall, and gained further understanding of the general development and geographical advantage of Fangchenggang. Xiang Zhiqiang said that SCODA will draw new ideas from the innovation industrial chain of Fangchenggang International Medical Pilot Zone, featuring “Medicinal trade-international medical and health care industry-modern service industry”.
This visit to CAEXPO was very fruitful. Nanning, Guangxi neighbors and shares similar culture with ASEAN countries. It works as an active pioneer and window for strengthening exchanges between China and ASEAN countries, providing a good reference value for SCODA and SCO countries to strengthen regional in-depth cooperation in international logistics, modern trade, two-way investment, etc.
