SCODA participated in, and carried out promotion at the first meeting of China-Russia Working Group for the Border and Local Economic and Trade Cooperation and Special Economic Areas Cooperation

On January 26, 2021, the first meeting of China-Russia Working Group for the Border and Local Economic and Trade Cooperation and Special Economic Areas Cooperation was held online via video links. Wang Kaixuan, the Director of the Department of European-Central Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce of China, and Федоров , the Director of the Department of Integration Projects and CIS Countries Development of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Entrusted by Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce, Xiang Zhiqiang, Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA, attended the meeting and delivered online promotion of SCODA.

Xiang Zhiqiang introduced that, SCODA is actively exploring the new routes, models and mechanisms for local economic and trade cooperation, seeking to deeply participate in the major development opportunities such as the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). SCODA will create a new platform connecting SCO countries with the markets of China, Japan, South Korea and ASEAN. The aim is to contribute to the opening pattern featuring complementarity, coordination and connectivity between the east and west, land and sea, home and abroad, and eventually building a new Belt and Road international cooperation platform. We look forward to cooperate with the Russian partners present here today and other parts of Russia.

This video conference covers four sessions, including trade and investment cooperation promotion, transport cooperation and port operation, strengthening cooperation of parks and local cooperation under the framework of "Yangtze River-Volga River". Chinese representatives from the departments of Commerce of provinces and autonomous regions including Shandong, Guangdong, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and Russian representatives from Moscow, St.Petersburg, Sahka (Yakutia) Republic, Binhai Border Area, Krasnoyarskiy Kray Border Area, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Istok Special Economic Zone, and Alabuga Special Economic Zone, gave speeches respectively, and all expressed interests in jointly promoting China-Russia cooperation in border areas, local economic and trade cooperation, and special economic zones.
