SCODA Attended the 15th China-Kyrgyzstan Intergovernmental Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation

On July 26, Wang Shouwen, China International Trade Representative (minister’s level) and Vice Minister of Commerce, and Kasymaliyev, First Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, co-hosted the 15th China-Kyrgyzstan Intergovernmental Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation, and exchanged ideas on implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and deepening bilateral pragmatic cooperation. Invited by the Ministry of Commerce, SCODA attended online. Zhang Dong, Member of the Party Working Committee, and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of the SCODA attended.


Wang Shouwen said that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Kyrgyzstan. President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with President Japarov and met with him in Beijing during the Winter Olympics, reaching a series of important consensus and charting the course for China-Kyrgyzstan economic and trade cooperation. Since the 14th meeting of the Committee, the trade scale between China and Kyrgyzstan has reached a new record high. The investment cooperation has been carried out in an orderly manner and the key projects have made steady progress. The practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results despite the impact of the pandemic.

Wang Shouwen pointed out that the two sides should strengthen the top-level design and launch negotiations on the Joint Plan of Measures to Promote High-quality Trade Development. China is ready to import more high-quality green products from Kyrgyzstan, improve customs clearance facilitation, and develop new forms of trade such as cross-border e-commerce. Kyrgyzstan is welcome to participate in China International Import Expo, China-Eurasia Expo and other exhibitions to display Kyrgyzstan's products. China will give full play to the role of the working group on investment and industrial cooperation, implement the Memorandum of Understanding on Investment and Cooperation in Green Development, speed up the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Investment and Cooperation in the Digital Economy, and deepen industrial and supply chain cooperation. China will continue to strengthen cooperation at the local level in the health industry and multilateral areas, and upgrade bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

When talking about deepening local economic and trade cooperation between China and Kyrgyzstan, Wang Shouwen said that the China-Kyrgyzstan Dialogue on Economic and Trade Cooperation hosted by SCODA in 2021 played a positive role in helping Chinese and Kyrgyzstan's enterprises break the barrier of the pandemic, deepen mutual understanding and build an exchange platform. As further cooperation suggestions, Wang Shouwen introduced the Qingdao Ruyi Lake International Expo Center Project under construction to the Kyrgyzstan side, and invited Kyrgyzstan to display goods and discuss cooperation, leveraging the advantage of Qingdao to strengthen the cooperation of the logistics, industry and industrial park, and striving to create the local cooperation into a new highlight of bilateral pragmatic cooperation.

Kasymaliyev said that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the economic and trade cooperation with China and would like to jointly implement the consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries, speed up the negotiation and signing of relevant economic and trade cooperation documents, expand the export of agricultural products to China, actively participate in exhibitions held by China, further increase the volume of cargo at ports and step up relevant economic and technological cooperation projects. He thanked China for its strong support for Kyrgyzstan's economic and social development and anti-pandemic cooperation. He hoped that more Chinese companies will invest in Kyrgyzstan, and the two countries will work together to promote high-level development of bilateral economic and trade ties.

After the meeting, Wang Shouwen and Amangeldiev, Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, signed the Plan for Medium and Long-term Economic and Trade Cooperation between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Cabinet of the Kyrgyz Republic (until 2030). He also signed the minutes of the meeting with Kasymaliyev, First Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan.

Du Dewen, Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Baktegulova, Kyrgyz Ambassador to China, as well as representatives of government departments, financial institutions and industry associations of the two countries attended.
