SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming Attended the Local Leaders' Forum of SCO Member States

    On August 3, 2022, the Local Leaders' Forum of SCO Member States was convened both offline and online. Khozaev, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming, heads of delegations of SCO member states and local officials attended the plenary session of the forum in Tashkent.

    Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister Khozaev spoke highly of the achievements of local cooperation among SCO member states and looked forward to the active participation of local governments of SCO member states in the development of trade within the region, industrial cooperation, high-tech cooperation and other initiatives proposed by Uzbekistan as the rotating presidency, so as to jointly raise the level of regional development and improve the quality of people's lives.

    Secretary-General Zhang Ming said that local cooperation is one of the important areas of activity for the SCO. The recent Foreign Ministers' Meeting of SCO Member States adopted a series of documents on deepening cooperation in transportation, logistics, connectivity, trade, investment, agriculture, tourism and other fields, which will be submitted to the upcoming Samarkand Summit for approval. We look forward to and believe that the local governments and states of the SCO member states will make active efforts to implement the cooperation consensus reached by the leaders of the SCO member states, vigorously expand economic and cultural exchanges among local governments, and make important contributions to the in-depth development of SCO cooperation.

Leaders and representatives from 30 regions of the SCO member states attended the Local Leaders' Forum.
