Three Times in Three Years! Armenian Ambassador to China Visited SCODA

On June 18, Sergey Manasaryan, Armenian Ambassador to China, visited SCODA. This is his third visit after the two visits in August 2020 and April 2021. Zhang Dong, Member of the Party Working Committee, Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA accompanied.


Ambassador Sergey Manasaryan first came to the Ruyi Lake Commercial Complex project to learn about project planning, design concept and the layout of function venues and the latest construction progress.

After that, Ambassador Sergey Manasaryan visited SCODA Multimodal Transport Center (CRIntermodal Qingdao Central Station) to learn about the construction, freight train operation and freight transport equipment. At present, 25 international and domestic freight trains have been running regularly at SCODA, connecting 49 cities in 20 SCO and Belt and Road countries, and gradually building an international logistics corridor connecting Japan, ROK, Asia-Pacific in the east, Central Asia and Europe in the west, ASEAN and South Asia in the south and Mongolia and Russia in the north.

In addition, Ambassador Sergey Manasaryan visited Qingdao Airport Business Attraction Center to learn about the "coordination across the whole city, leading with one core area and collaboration of three areas", the concept of working together to build a modern SCO New Area, and the construction of SCODA, Jiaodong Airport Economic Demonstration Zone, Excellent City Demonstration Area and Rural Revitalization Qilu Model Demonstration Area.

SCODA has always maintained close communication with Armenia and carried out extensive practical cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture, business and tourism.

Ambassador Sergei Manasaryan visited SCODA twice in August 2020 and April 2021 during SCO Expo, promoting extensive cooperation between the two sides in competitive industries, trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges.

During the Financial Forum in October 2021, the Ambassador said in a video speech that he would further facilitate deepening the practical cooperation in finance between the two sides.

In April this year, the video conference between SCODA and Armenian Embassy in China was held at the SCO Service Center, Ambassador Sergey Manasaryan attended via video, and commended the achievements of SCODA and the development of key projects in the core area. He said that he would fully support and assist the project, and would also actively promote the process of Yerevan and Qingdao in establishing friendship.

Two months later, on the afternoon of June 16, the 2022 Thematic Events of "Sister City Cooperation for a Shared Future"--Qingdao-Yerevan Online Dialogue on Friendly Cooperation was held in Qingdao and Yerevan. With the signing of the agreement, Yerevan became the 12th friendly city of Qingdao in SCO countries and regions. Ambassador Sergey Manasaryan said in his speech that he hoped after establishing the relationship, the two cities would continue to expand and deepen cooperation, and enhance people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Sergey Manasaryan said that Armenia has always taken an active part in SCO economic and trade cooperation, and supported China's construction of SCODA. He hoped that, on the basis of the friendly cooperative relations between Qingdao and Yerevan, both sides could further deepen practical cooperation and promote bilateral exchanges in various fields to a new level.

As an important window of open exchanges between China and SCO countries and a pioneer of SCO local economic and trade cooperation, SCODA gives full play to its role as a platform to link elements and resources.

In order to actively cope with the adverse impact of the pandemic, SCODA gave full play to activities such as Meeting SCODA on the Cloud for Common Development and Friendship Cities Cooperation for a Shared Future, met with more than 200 diplomatic envoys and more than 200 business leaders, and held over 200 economic and trade dialogues. And SCODA has visited the embassies of 20 SCO countries in China. Eleven ambassadors including Ambassador Sergey Manasaryan and 156 diplomatic envoys visited SCODA.
