Press Conference for SCO Expo & Qingdao·International Cooperation Hub for SCO Countries Held in Beijing
On October 9, press conference for 2020 SCO International Investment and Trade Expo & Qingdao·International Cooperation Hub for SCO Countries was held in Beijing. 2020 SCO International Investment and Trade Expo will held in Jiaozhou, Qingdao, Shandong from October 16 to 18. Qingdao·International Cooperation Hub for SCO Countries with a total area of 30,000 m2 will also launch at the same time.

Wu Meng, Director of Bilateral Cooperation Department of the China Chamber of International Commerce and Secretary-General of SCO Business Council; Liu Jianjun, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Qingdao Committee, Secretary of CPC Jiaozhou Committee, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA; Yu Fenggui, Secretary of Party Leadership Group and Chairman of CCPIT Shangdong Sub-Council; Wan Jianzhong, Level 1 Counsel (vice mayor level) of Qingdao Municipal Government and the other Qingdao officials attended the press conference. At the press conference, Liu Jianjun made an overall introduction to SCODA and to the preparations for the SCO Expo & Qingdao·International Cooperation Hub for SCO Countries.
Liu Jianjun introduces that, Jiaozhou has time-honored tradition of opening up, favorable geographical location as a transportation hub and strong industrial foundation. The opening-up characteristics, inclusive culture, excellent location and resources have laid a solid foundation for the long term development of SCODA. SCODA enjoys a favorable location. It is connected with Japan and ROK and facing the Asia Pacific in the east, linked to SCO countries in the west, ASEAN countries in the south, and Mongolia and Russia in the North. Guided by planning, SCODA is focusing on the development of "five centers", namely, international logistics center, modern trade center, two-way investment cooperation center, business travel and cultural exchange development center, and marine cooperation center. The theme of the 2020 SCO Expo is "SCO Opportunity for Opening Up and Development". The events consists of 7 sections, namely, the opening ceremony, launch ceremony, project signing, Qingdao Forum, "online+offline" exhibition, etc. Qingdao·International Cooperation Hub for SCO Countries with a floor area of 30,000 m2 will be officially launched. The hub features such functions as products exhibition, investment and trade meetings, road shows and introduction, aimed to promote wider and deeper bilateral and multilateral integration of capital, technology and talent among SCO countries and "Belt and Road" countries.
At the Expo, Yu Fenggui, Wan Jianzhong, and Xiang Zhiqiang, member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA, answered questions from media about the Expo and the launch ceremony.
Over 30 domestic and international media outlets including People's Daily, CNR, CCTV News and KAZINFORM participated in the press conference.
Chu Lianyu, Secretary of Party Leadership Group and Chairman of CCPIT Qingdao Sub-Council, Xu Wenqing, Secretary-General of RDI Secretariat, Ma Jinxiu, Member of the Standing Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of CPC Jiaozhou Committee, and Zhang Hongye, Member of the Standing Committee and Director of the General Office of CPC Jiaozhou Committee, attended the press conference.
It is learnt that 28 diplomatic representatives including more than 10 ambassadors from 18 countries including the SCO countries will participate in the Expo. Products and services of more than 600 companies will be exhibited. There will be nearly 300 domestic and foreign companies in the 15,000 m2 exhibition area at Jiaozhou Fangyuan Sport Center. 350 companies have also registered as online exhibitors.
The upcoming Qingdao·International Cooperation Hub for SCO Countries is a platform for bilateral and multilateral exchanges and interaction of companies, chambers of commerce and associations of SCO countries and "Belt and Road" countries. The hub is designed especially for businesses, chambers of commerce of SCO and "Belt and Road" countries and Chinese companies interested in entering the SCO markets. The hub offers services such as products display, investment and trade meetings, road shows and introductions, etc. SCODA Exhibition Hall, SCO Exhibition Area for Specialties, Culture and Tourism, SCO Exchange and Service Center, SCO Business Association Operational Platform, SCO Legal and Intellectual Valley, SCO Youth Start-up Incubator, Pakistan (China) Economic Cooperation Center have been set up. A number of chambers of commerce and associations from Russia, India, Sri Lanka and other countries plan to enter the hub. After the launch of the hub, a series of projects, such as SCO center and SCO Central SOEs International Expo Center will also be built.
Qingdao Forum consists of one main forum and four sub-forums. Around such themes as "challenges and opportunities for bilateral and multilateral local economic and trade cooperation under the new international circumstances", the forum will invite some ambassadors of SCO countries and chief representatives of chambers of industry and commerce to give lectures and speeches.
Signing ceremony for two-way investment projects between SCO and domestic companies including central SOEs and domestic and foreign chambers of commerce and associations will also be held during the Expo.
