SCO Secretary General Attended Annual Conference Roundtable of Boao Forum for Asia

On April 20, 2021, the roundtable of Boao Forum for Asia for heads of Asian regional organizations and analytic institutions, hosted by the China Institute of International Studies, was held in the Hainan Province of China.

Vladimir Norov, SCO Secretary General attended the roundtable meeting. The theme of the meeting was "New Opportunities and Challenges Facing Asian Regional Cooperation Organizations in Promoting Global Governance".

Norov emphasized that COVID-19 and its impact on the society and the economy were testing global governance and international institutions. Meanwhile, he stressed that the pandemic brought people to realize the importance of health system, and the existing inequality in access to medical treatment and infrastructure among different regions and countries.

Norov also briefed the participants on the ongoing activities of SCO, priorities during Tajikistan's SCO chairmanship, and the preparation for the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States Dushanbe Conference and other major meetings to be held this year.
