Qingdao Creating A New Platform for Belt and Road International Cooperation

Recently, at berth 107 of the automation terminal at Qingdao Port of Shandong Port Group, the vessel "Emirates Sana" was loading cargo in a tense and orderly manner. It will only take 12 hours for the vessel to operate at the port before sailing to Jebel Ali port in the United Arab Emirates.

As one of the international comprehensive transportation hubs, relying on the port and other transportation hubs, Qingdao is constantly expanding international trade channels and gradually building a new platform for Belt and Road international cooperation. Thanks to the key platforms such as SCODA, Qingdao is expanding its space for international economic and trade cooperation along the Belt and Road.

In the first ten months of this year, 455 China-Europe block trains were operated at Qingdao Multimodal Transport Center at SCODA, up by 42.6% year-on-year and 43,700 TEUs of cargo were handled through international block trains, up by 47.71% year-on-year.

Meanwhile, Qingdao has explored innovative business models and continuously increased the strength and breadth of cooperation with international partners of the Belt and Road.

At SCODA, Qingdao HWA-NUTS Foodstuff Co., Ltd. declared a batch of imported peanuts with a value of 178,000 USD and 290,000 yuan in tax value. It took less than two minutes to clear customs. This was the first "SCO·Bank Customs Pass" customs guarantee business at SCODA.

According to Meng Qingsheng, Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA, SCODA has introduced 21 institutional innovations, including cross-border credit investigation. In the first three quarters of this year, the total import and export volume of SCODA increased by 51.2% year-on-year.

According to customs statistics, in the first ten months of this year, Qingdao's import and export value to countries and regions along the Belt and Road reached 210.33 billion yuan, up by 48% year-on-year.
