SCODA Work Briefing Meeting & Industry-University-Research Institute Seminar Held in Beijing

On February 21, the Work Briefing Meeting & Industry-University-Research Institute Seminar of the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area was held in Beijing. Sohail Khan, SCO Deputy Secretary-General, Zhang Xinzhu, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of SCODA, Huo Xuewen, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Bank of Beijing, and Zhang Yujing, President of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Mechanical and Electronic Products attended and addressed the event. Li Gang, Vice Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Executive Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA, promoted SCODA. Zhang Dong, Member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA, presided over the seminar.

Sohail Khan said in his speech that he expected SCODA to better leverage its advantages, strengthen its role as a bridge, and jointly promote deeper and more pragmatic SCO economic and trade cooperation, so as to create a better future for SCO.

Zhang Xinzhu hoped to take this event as a starting point to build a bridge of communication and reach a cooperation consensus with more think tanks, leading enterprises, and business associations, and accelerate the building of a new platform for Belt and Road international cooperation.

Huo Xuewen said that the Bank of Beijing will focus on the industrial chain and supply chain of SCODA, provide high-quality and efficient digital supply chain financial products and services, and provide high-quality financial supplies for making all-out efforts to deliver substantial and pragmatic results and improve the reputation and recognition of SCODA.

Zhang Yujing said the mechanical and electrical industry will play a leading role in the high-quality development of SCO local economic and trade cooperation, and realize the precise connection and optimal allocation of policy and funds, human resources, technology, and data resources.

“At present, we have opened 29 international and domestic freight train routes, initially forming an international logistics channel covering the province, radiating along the Yellow River, traversing Europe and Asia, connecting Japan, the Republic of Korea, and ASEAN. Ten trading platforms such as the SCO Cross-border Trade Service Center have been introduced and cultivated. More than 2,000 trading entities of various types have gathered here, and more than 70 projects with a total investment of more than 200 billion yuan have been launched.” Li Gang said in his presentation that in 2022, SCODA hosted more than 150 international exchange activities such as the SCO Media Think Tank Forum, and it has seen the “circle of friends” in SCO countries enlarged and its reputation further improved. To meet the demand for local economic and trade cooperation in SCO countries and countries along the Belt and Road, SCODA has launched 56 institutional innovation cases, including the “SCO · Exchange and Insurance Pass” and the “Credit SCO”.

During the event, Yihai Kerry (Qingdao) Food Industrial Park and Haier COSMOPlat Industrial Empowerment Platform were also promoted.

As an important achievement of the seminar, 12 projects have been signed to be implemented at the SCO New Area, including the strategic cooperation project of the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Aviation Cooperation Project of Cambodia, the Digital Twin Hub Project of SCO International Hub Port, the strategic cooperation project of the National Transportation and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan, and the cooperation project of the United Company RUSAL.

At the Industry-University-Research Institute Cooperation Seminar, the SCO-Beijing Entrepreneurship Hub was awarded the "Qingdao Offshore Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base".
