SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming Attended the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2024

On 28 March 2024, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2024 and delivered a speech at the sub-forum of "Global Security Initiative: Solving Security Challenges for World Peace".

In his speech, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming elaborated on the purposes, principles and objectives of SCO in the field of security, stressing that the SCO is always committed to maintaining and strengthening regional peace, security and stability, and that security cooperation is a priority and a core task of the SCO.

The Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) is an international forum mechanism headquartered in China, jointly initiated by 29 member states, and holds its annual conference regularly in Boao, Hainan. The theme of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2024 is "Asia and the World: Common Challenges, Shared Responsibilities". Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, President of Kazakhstan Tokayev, President of Nauru Adeang, Prime Minister Gunawardena of Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Skerrit of Dominica, Chairman of the King's Advisory Council of Cambodia Hun Sen, Director-General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Deng Hongsen, Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Cormann and other heads of state and international organizations attended the conference.
