Ninth Meeting of SCO Ministers of Justice
On 9 December 2022, the ninth Meeting of SCO Ministers of Justice was held online under the chairmanship of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Taking part in the meeting were Kiren Rijiju, Minister of Law and Justice of the Republic of India; Alma Mukanova, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Tang Yijun, Minister of Justice of the People's Republic of China; Baktiyar Orozov, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic; Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister of Law and Justice of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Senator; Andrei Loginov, State Secretary-Deputy Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation; Muzaffar Ashuriyon, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan; Akbar Tashkulov Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan; and SCO Deputy Secretary-General Erik Ashimov. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Law and Justice of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar. During the meeting, the parties considered the latest developments in the activities of the SCO ministries of justice, discussed their roles in the digitalization of areas within their competence, and expressed readiness to further improve the interaction between the ministries of justice of SCO member states.
It was agreed to continue work on the implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation between the SCO Ministries of (Law and) Justice signed in Dushanbe on 18 August 2015, organising officials’ mutual visits, holding regional SCO conferences, bilateral symposiums, seminars, workshops and joint courses on topical legal issues. A Joint Statement was signed following the Meeting.
The next anniversary 10th Meeting of SCO Ministers of Justice will be held in China in 2023.
