Forum on SCO Country People-to-People Exchange 2022 Held
On December 21, Forum on SCO Country People-to-People Exchange 2022 was held at Qingdao·SCODA Pearl International Expo Center. Qingdao Education International Exchange Week opened concurrently. Under the theme of "Deepen International Exchange and Cooperation in Education, Forge Closer People-to-People Ties among SCO Countries", nearly 40 guests from SCO countries held discussions on "People-to-People Exchange for Inclusive, Fair and Quality Education", "Foster Digital Skills to Empower Local Economic Development", and "Tertiary Education Cooperation and International Talents Cultivation in the SCO Countries".
Sohail Khan, SCO Deputy Secretary-General; Moin ul Haque, Ambassador of Pakistan to China; Alexei Nikolayevich Demkin, Mayor of Perm, Russia; Xi Ru, Deputy Director General of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education of China; Du Kewei, Director of China Center for International People-to-People Exchange of Ministry of Education; Sun Xiaoyun, Deputy Director-General of Shandong Provincial Education Department; Wang Bo, Vice Mayor of Qingdao; and Hao Guoxin, Member of the Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA, attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered speeches. Jiang Yuanshao, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Education Working Committee of the CPC Qingdao Committee, Secretary of the Party Group, and Director General of Qingdao Municipal Education Bureau, presided over the opening ceremony.
In his address, Sohail Khan noted that within the SCO framework, cooperation in the field of people-to-people relations has a solid institutional foundation. This forum will surely yield expected results in strengthening cultural and people-to-people cooperation and enhancing good neighborliness and mutual understanding among the peoples of the SCO member states.
Alexei Nikolayevich Demkin pointed out that China is Russia's main partner in economic and cultural activities. Perm will actively carry out cooperation, exchanges and mutual learning with its sister city Qingdao in the fields of ecology, sports, culture and youth policy.
Xi Ru said that we should continue to intensify opening-up and cooperation, promote the building of an SCO community of education through high-quality education and people-to-people exchanges, and make new and greater contributions to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Du Kewei said we should continue to promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges among SCO countries and build an SCO community with a shared future.
Sun Xiaoyun said that we will continue to actively participate in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, and carry out extensive international cooperation in education to better serve the overall situation of China's opening up.
In his speech, Wang Bo said that Qingdao will continue to speed up international exchanges, intensify cultural and people-to-people exchanges, leverage people-to-people exchanges to deepen the innovation and development of various undertakings, and contribute to the building of the SCO community with a shared future.
Hao Guoxin said in his speech that SCODA has set up a China-SCO Institute of Economy and trade with high standards and held more than 50 cultural and people-to-people exchange activities. And SCODA will continue to build a bridge for extensive communication and consensus among SCO countries and provide a platform for integration and common development of SCO cultures.
