Sherali Jononov, Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO Secretariat, Visits SCODA
From July 23 to 26, 2020, a delegation of the SCO Secretariat led by Deputy Secretary-General Sherali Jononov visited Qingdao, Shandong.
During the trip, the delegation had a series of meetings with representatives of Shandong Provincial Government and Qingdao Municipal Government. The purpose of the visit is to discuss cooperation in priority areas including economy and trade, transportation, logistics, education, culture and tourism, as well as the future prospect.
On July 23, Mr. Jononov met with Mr. Xue Qingguo, Vice Mayor of Qingdao, Mr. Cao Zhen, Vice Mayor of Shinan District and Mr. Zhao Zhongyuan, General Manager of ASTON, and discussed matters regarding the establishment of technological transfer center for SCO member states.
Mr. Jononov also visited the headquarters of Weidong Group and exchanged ideas on formulating and implementing distance education plans with Mr. Zhang Xiaobing, Executive Vice President of the Group. The two sides agreed to keep in touch for further discussion.
On July 24, a meeting was held with the attendance of officials from SCO Secretariat, SCO Business Council, SCODA, as well as representatives from government departments and business community of Qingdao. The meeting was officiated by Mr. Meng Qingsheng, Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA.
According to the agenda of the meeting, all sides attending the meeting exchanges views on SCODA development and trade cooperation with SCO member states, with special focus on e-commerce, transportation and logistics, education, science and technology, culture, agriculture, as well as customs and plants quarantine and control.
As agreed at the meeting, SCODA officials decided to formulate and submit to SCO Secretariat the "Development Plan for Cooperation between SCODA and SCO Member States".
From July 25 to 26, Mr. Jononov had meetings with Mr. Liu Jianjun, Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA, and Ms. Ji Caiyuan, Director of Asian Affairs Division of Shandong Provincial Foreign Affairs Office.
At the meeting, the parties talked about the development of major projects in Qingdao for the SCO member states, starting with SCODA, the tourism project of "SCO's Eight Wonders", and the proposal made by the Chinese premier to set up the technological transfer center for SCO member countries.
At the 18th Meeting of the Council of Heads of States of SCO convened on June 10, 2018, President Xi Jinping announced support for the establishment of the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area in Qingdao.
