Li Gang Led a Team to Visit Egypt

From November 3 to 6 local time, Li Gang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Working Committee and Executive Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA, led a team to visit Egypt.

At the General Authority for Investment & Free Zones, Li Gang and his team met with Hossam Heiba, Chairman of GAFI. Li Gang hoped that the two sides would strengthen communication and exchanges, expand practical cooperation in logistics, trade, commerce, tourism, and culture, and promote the implementation of high-quality projects.

Hossam Heiba said that GAFI would leverage the SCO Economic and Trade Comprehensive Service Platform, Qingdao International Energy Exchange, and other platforms to carry out practical cooperation with Chinese enterprises and actively participate in the construction of the Belt and Road.

During his meeting with Tarek Hashem, General Manager of Investment Relations of the General Authority of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Li Gang hoped that both sides could give full play to their advantages, strengthen the interaction among industrial parks, and further deepen the cooperation in industrial investment and economic and trading exchanges.

Tarek Hashem said that the Authority will make good use of SCODA as an international public good and attract more Chinese enterprises to invest and start business in Egypt. Meanwhile, the Suez Canal Economic Zone will actively collaborate with SCODA to empower each other for win-win results.

During his meeting with Yang Yi, the Chinese Consul General in Alexandria, Li Gang hoped that the Consulate General in Alexandria could play a bridging role, promote the interaction and exchanges between SCODA and Alexandria, and help the two places expand cooperation in logistics, trade, industry, tourism, and other fields.

Yang Yi said that the Consulate General in Alexandria will actively play its due role to further promote exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in multiple fields, and help SCODA build a new platform for Belt and Road international cooperation.

During the visit, Li Gang and the delegation also visited Cairo, the capital of Egypt; Alexandria port, Egypt's largest port; and Egypt's landmark projects related to the construction of the Belt and Road and other places, exchanged ideas and negotiated with relevant parties to promote cooperation, and attended the completion ceremony of the main body of the Haier Egyptian Ecological Park.
