Committee for Overseas Chinese and Foreign Affairs of Qingdao Municipal People's Congress Visited SCODA
On May 25, the inspection group of the Committee for Overseas Chinese and Foreign Affairs of Qingdao Municipal People's Congress visited SCODA to carry out a special inspection themed "pooling the strength of overseas Chinese in SCO countries and serving to build a new platform for Belt and Road international cooperation". Luan Xin, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Qingdao Municipal People's Congress, led the group.
The group visited the Ruyi Lake Commercial Complex project, SCODA Planning and Exhibition Hall and SCO Featured Product Exhibition. During the meeting afterward, Meng Qingsheng, Member of the Party Working Committee, Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA, and official of Qingdao Municipal Overseas Chinese Affairs Office introduced the economic development and construction of SCODA, and the work of Qingdao Municipal Overseas Chinese Affairs Office since its institutional reform in pooling the strength of overseas Chinese in SCO countries and serving to build a new platform for Belt and Road international cooperation.
At the meeting, members of the overseas Chinese community from some SCO countries exchanged ideas. It was suggested that an International Art Festival of SCO countries be established to make Jiaozhou an important platform for the culture and art of SCO countries, and that an exchange platform for overseas Chinese should be set up at SCODA, where seminars on the promotion of Belt and Road projects are held, and that a Russian language talent exchange center should be set up. And by leveraging the Inter-provincial Alliance for Ecological Protection in the Yellow River Basin, the exchanges and cooperation with SCO countries should be strengthened, and an international cooperation research and exchange platform on the modernization of rural revitalization governance system and governance capacity that is first class in China and the world, should be built.
Luan Xin hoped that the overseas Chinese would give full play to their unique advantages in integrating China and the rest of the world, actively make suggestions on speeding up the building of a vibrant ocean city and a livable and lovable city, engage in investment attraction and talent recruitment extensively, take the initiative in innovation and entrepreneurship, and play a bigger role in the construction of the Belt and Road and SCODA. Officials in overseas Chinese affairs should become true friends who provide substantial services for overseas Chinese, further build extensive consensus, coordinate the work related to overseas Chinese, help solve the difficulties they encounter in innovation and entrepreneurship, safeguard their rights and interests, and gather and release the great energy of overseas Chinese and returned overseas Chinese and their relatives to the maximum, and guide them to make new and greater contributions to build Qingdao into a modern socialist international metropolis in the new era.
