Lin Wu Led a Delegation of Shandong Province to Visit Uzbekistan: Deepening Exchanges and Interaction for Higher-Level Cooperation and Writing a New Chapter of Belt and Road Local Cooperation

From September 4 to 7, Lin Wu, Secretary of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, led a delegation of Shandong Province to visit Uzbekistan.

During the visit, Lin Wu met with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Alipov and Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov.

Lin Wu said that we would like to work with relevant parties in Uzbekistan to deepen cooperation between sister cities in high-level exchanges and events, promote the implementation of key cooperation projects such as heavy trucks and agricultural machinery manufacturing, expand high-level connectivity such as SCODA and the China-Europe Freight Train (Qilu), and jointly increase people-to-people exchanges such as youth training exchange, thus injecting new impetus and expanding new space for deepening cooperation between the two sides.

The Uzbek side believed that the visit of the Shandong delegation would accelerate the implementation of the important consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries, further expand the cooperation in agriculture, construction, commercial vehicles, infrastructure, trade, energy, digitalization, and culture and tourism, and attract more Shandong enterprises to invest and operate in Uzbekistan, promoting mutual benefits and win-win results.

On the morning of September 5, the China (Shandong) -Uzbekistan Cooperation and Exchange Conference & Commemoration of the 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative opened in Tashkent.

Lin Wu said in his keynote speech that in recent years, Shandong thoroughly implemented the important requirements and instructions of President Xi Jinping, actively integrated into the construction of the "Belt and Road", and vigorously promoted the development of SCODA, yielding positive results in opening-up. We have always attached great importance to the local exchanges with Uzbekistan, and have been committed to promoting all-round cooperation in various fields. Looking ahead, we would like to work with various sectors of Uzbekistan to share the opportunities of the Belt and Road Initiative, improve new mechanisms for local exchanges, expand new space for economic and trade cooperation, build new channels for connectivity, weave new ties for people-to-people exchanges, and take our cooperation to a new level.

Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov and other Uzbek guests expressed their determination to actively expand investment and protect the rights and interests of foreign investors, demonstrated their strong commitment to expanding cooperation in an all-round way, and their expectation to the bright prospect of bilateral cooperation.

During the event, the corner of Chinese Civilization · Nishan Library was unveiled at the National Library of Uzbekistan. Lin Wu presented Shandong publications to Uzbekistan, and 15 mechanisms and projects were signed on site, with an investment of 450 million USD.

Lin Wu held a meeting with Erkinjon Turdimov, Governor of Samarkand. The two sides signed the Action Plan for Friendly Cooperation between the Shandong Provincial People's Government and the Samarkand Provincial Government (2023-2025).

On the morning of September 6, the "Friendly Shandong, Remarkable Shandong" Exhibition and Promotion & Shandong - Samarkand Enterprises Cooperation Exchange Meeting was held.

In his speech, Lin Wu said that we came to Samarkand with the sincerity of enhancing friendship and seeking common development, in the hope of further strengthening the relationship between sister provinces, deepening cooperation between sister cities, exploring and promoting cooperation in the fields of deep processing of agricultural products, heavy truck, agricultural machinery manufacturing, digital economy development, and industrial park cooperation, so as to achieve higher-level mutual benefits and win-win outcomes in broader areas. During the event, the mainstream media of both sides signed a cooperation agreement, and Lin Wu presented the Confucian Canon to the Samarkand State.

Lin Wu visited the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan, and discussed pushing bilateral scientific and technological cooperation to a higher level. The two sides witnessed the signing of a scientific and technological innovation cooperation agreement, the signing of the innovative vaccine and biotechnology center project, and the inauguration of the China-Uzbekistan joint innovation base for treating saline-alkali land in the Aral Sea.

During the visit, Lin Wu also attended the "China-Central Asia People's Culture and Art Year" & "Friendly Shandong · Friendship along the Silk Road" Photography Art Exhibition. He also attended the launching ceremony of the 3,000th truck of the China National Heavy Duty Truck produced by Uz Truck & Bus Motors, and the signing ceremony of the cooperation project of localized production of new energy buses between China National Heavy Duty Truck Group and Uz Auto.

Ilhomm Mahkamov, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Radizi Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Zhang Haibo, Member of the Standing Committee and Secretary-General of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, and Yu Jun, Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan, attended the relevant activities. Heads of relevant municipal and provincial departments of Shandong Province accompanied the visit.
